Taylor announces schedule of 15th District town hall meetings

State Rep. David Taylor will host in-district town hall meetings at four locations during the month of June. The public forums are scheduled on successive Thursdays, starting June 3, in Stevenson, Goldendale, White Salmon and Zillah.

“Representative Chandler and I co-hosted a tele-forum from Olympia during this year’s legislative session, and it was extremely successful,” said Taylor, R-Moxee. “The interactive technology connected us to thousands of people, and the feedback was excellent, but there’s nothing to compare with the face-to-face experience of traditional local town halls. I respect the opinions of the folks I represent, and place a very high value on their thoughts and ideas.”

During each town meeting, Taylor will present an overview of the issues that the Legislature dealt with this year, including the 30-day overtime session, and then open up the forum for comments and questions. There also will be time afterward for constituents to talk with him individually.

“The open-forum setting allows informal give-and-take discussion, and the input I get is valuable in guiding the decisions I make as a legislator,” added Taylor. “The conversations can also spark ideas for legislation and improvements in the way state government operates. That’s citizen involvement at its best, and I look forward to getting together with my constituents.”
